Plants and maintains regional species in the Mangroves to Mountains and assists with the care of the Rose Garden. Coordinates Community Planting Events and operates the Friends Nursery. Gardening at 7am Wednesday; Nursery 7am Friday. One of the major areas of activity is the Friends Special Interest Group Australian Plants Gold Coast.
Press and Preserve Team
Collects, presses and mounts a scientific collection of regional plant specimens in the GCRBG Herbarium. This collection includes specimens from within the Gardens and from SE Queensland. Meets on Tuesday and Saturday 9am to 12noon.
Meet and Greet Team
Welcomes visitors, provides information and assistance at the Friends Centre which is open from 10:00am till 2:00pm daily.
Walk and Talk Team
Leads and guides Gardens tours. Speakers with knowledge about the Gardens can be organised for outside community groups. A small fee is charged for private group tours and presentations. Contact us.
Explore and Learn Team
Facilitates educational activities including Botanica Quest, our school holiday activity for 4-12 year-olds, Arbor Day and displays. Contact us.
Trained gardening volunteers advising schools and community groups with gardening projects. Friends SMART Gardeners partner with secondary and vocational educational institutions to provide ‘hands-on’ horticultural experiences.
Assists with fundraising as well as organising Friends functions and community events.
Botanical Art and Craft Team
Creates botanically inspired articles for sale at the Friends Centre or at special events.
Drives and develops promotional activities including the Friends magazine Growing Matters, website and brochures.
Assists with correspondence, bookkeeping, records and data entries.
Simply supports the Friends financially by becoming a Friend.
